Jamie Redknapp joked that Harry Styles told Sky Sports host Dave Jones to ‘do one’ during a visit to their studio before Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Luton. Pop star Styles was in attendance at Kenilworth Road and posed for selfies with Redknapp, Jones and the rest of the Sky team.
Jones initially mocked Redknapp for jumping out of his seat to take a picture and chat with the 30-year-old singer. A clip showed United fan Styles walking into the stadium before making his way towards the studio.
Redknapp is seen waiting to take a picture with the former One Direction star.
Jones – who makes reference to Redknapp’s injury problems during his playing career – says over the clip: “This is the hottest ticket in town in Luton today. Look who’s here – Harry Styles!
“Pop superstar. I’ve never seen Jamie Redknapp move so fast out of his chair to get a selfie. How’s your hamstring?”
Former Liverpool and Tottenham star Redknapp snaps back at Jones by pointing out his hypocrisy. The Sky host is seen chatting to Styles after Redknapp gets his selfie.
“Oh really? Watch you now, look how thirsty you get when he walks past you!” Redknapp said as the clip showed Jones and Styles deep in discussion.
“‘Oooh can I have some tickets please?’” Redknapp mimicked Jones as saying, before joking that Styles responded: “‘Yeah, do one mate.’”
Jones laughed and added: “We’re great friends! Great friends!”
United’s Champions League hopes have been revived after a huge upturn in form in 2024. Tottenham’s defeat against Wolves on Saturday leaves the Red Devils only eight points off the top four.
Ten Hag’s side are unbeaten since the turn of the year, a major improvement on the first few months of the campaign. However, the United boss is keen to downplay his team’s chances of catching up with the likes of Spurs and Aston Villa, with whom they will battle for fourth place.
“I think it’s too quick to say we’ve turned a corner,” Ten Hag said ahead of the trip to Luton.
“We’re not there yet. We’re back in the race but this club as a minimum want to be in the top four, as a minimum. But I feel we’re now heading in the right direction.”
