Koeman’s response to PSG’s offer to Messi

Amid the ceaseless rumours regarding Paris Saint-Germain possibly making a move for Lionel Messi, Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman has had his say.

In the build up to the Blaugrana’s LaLiga Santander game against Granada on Thursday, Koeman made it quite clear that he hopes Messi remains at the Camp Nou.

“I’m not interested in PSG, I don’t know if it’s true,” Koeman said, asked about the latest reports of the French club making an offer to the forward.

“I hope he stays with us. For me, he should finish here because he’s spent his whole life here, but ultimately it’s a decision that he will have to make.

“It doesn’t worry me at all, I’m just focussed on winning tomorrow.”

Reports have emerged in Brazil suggesting that PSG are poised to offer the Argentine a contract. The French club are said to be willing to offer the 33-year-old a two-year deal with the option of a further year, as well as offering more lucrative terms than Barcelona can afford to.

Meanwhile, Koeman also spoke about the LaLiga Santander title race ahead of his side’s chance to go top.

“Perhaps we are now the favourites, but we’re not thinking like that,” he said.

“We know how difficult it is to win games, there are no easy games.

“The team has learned to take it game by game, it’s the best way.”
