Lineker tips Iheanacho to lead Leicester to FA Cup glory

Barcelona and Leicester City legend, Gary Lineker has tipped Kelechi Iheanacho to lead the Foxes to FA Cup glory come the end of the season after the Nigerian ace’s goal-scoring heroics.

The Nigerian international forward, Iheanacho late Wednesday night sent Leicester into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a header in a 1-0 win over a stubborn Brighton & Hove Albion.

Iheanacho started from the bench for the third consecutive FA Cup game this season when Leicester hosted fellow Premier League side, Brighton in a fifth round tie at the King Power stadium.

The forward, however, came on to take the place of Jamie Vardy in the 62nd minute and he went ahead to net the winning goal for the Foxes in the 90th minute with an assist from Youri Tielemans.

Tielemans crossed for Iheanacho and the Super Eagles attacking sensation nodded it home in the very last minute of added time to send Brendan Rodgers’ side into the last eight of the competition.

Lineker immediately took to Twitter to react to Iheanacho’s goal: ” Yessss @67Kelechi. A last second winner. @LCFC have never won the FA Cup… could this possibly be the year?,” Lineker tweeted.

Iheanacho has contributed to eight goals (5 goals, 3 assists) in all competitions for the Foxes so far during the 2020/21 season. He also has 11 goals in 17 FA Cup appearances across six seasons.
