Lookman: Fulham Ready For Tottenham Challenge

Super Eagles prospect, Ademola Lookman believes Fulham must be at their best for a chance to defeat star-studded Tottenham Hotspur in Thursday night’s Premier League game.

The 23-year old has been delivering eye-catching performances for the Cottagers since his summer loan move from German side RB Leipzig, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 23 Premier League appearances.

Speaking to the club’s website ahead of the clash, Lookman said facing Jose Mourinho’s men will be a challenge but he believes the outcome of the encounter will depend on how they approach the game.

Lookman will be filling out against Tottenham alongside Nigerian teammates Ola Aina, Josh Maja and Tosin Adarabioyo as Fulham resume their desperate battle to avoid relegation at the end of the season with just eight matches to go starting with tonight’s clash against Spurs…

QUESTION: Reflecting on the game against Crystal Palace, a goalless draw after 16 chances. What did you make of that game and do you think it was a missed opportunity not to walk away with the three points?

ADEMOLA LOOKMAN: Another tough game, another tough opponent. I think in the second half, we created a lot of chances, chances which we could have definitely taken. But as you said, it was opportunity that has gone and we just got to look at the next opportunity. I think we can take the positives from the game and take it to the next game.

Question: That was one point on board having recorded one defeat in your last eight games. What do you think can help propel the team towards Premier League safety?

Lookman: I think our togetherness in the squad, that is definitely there. We all trust in each other as well and trust in our own abilities a lot more and merging it into a perfect flow. I think as a team, we flow well together – the way we play and the way we defend as well is also improving and it shows in our performances and results. So we just continue in this manner.

Question: How are you enjoying your football at the moment?

Lookman: Playing football for me is fun really, and I’m just glad and just pleased to be here.

Question: You’ve been around for like six months now since you joined from RB Leipzig. How did you find settling in and working with Scott Parker?

Lookman: It’s been amazing. I owe a lot to Scott Parker and to his coaching staff. A lot of this is to do with them in terms of how we play, our mentality around playing football, working hard together as a team all come from them. And especially like, in terms of – I’ve spoken about that togetherness – as a big thing for the coaching staff and the gaffer and I think those ideologies have not only helped us as players but as men to take away when we go away from the training ground. So it’s been amazing being here.

Question: You played very well against Tottenham last time. What do you make of facing Jose Mourinho’s side on Thursday night?

Lookman: They got world-class players, everybody knows that, across the whole team they have got world-class players but for us, it’s just about how we play, how we defend, how we attack. I think that a lot of it is to do with us and how we can bring our game, our side into the game and how we can affect them, that’s how we are looking at the game ahead and we look forward to another challenge”.
