Madrid Derby: Luis Suarez Says Atletico Out For Revenge Against Real Madrid

Luis Suarez has made clear that Atletico Madrid will seek revenge in the derby against Real Madrid on Sunday for their 2-0 defeat to Los Blancos in December.

The former Barcelona striker explained that all Atletico players are looking forward to facing Zinedine Zidane’s team at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.

“All the games against Real Madrid are special, they are the ones that you want to play and demonstrate [what you can do in],” Suarez said in an interview for LaLiga.

“Many players are evaluated on their performances in these kind of games. They are games [you want] to play. We have to take revenge for the first leg and be able to show that we want to stay top of the league.”

Suarez went on to break down the virtues that have helped him to become Atletico Madrid’s top scorer this season in all competitions.

“My way of being has always been to be this competitive,” Suarez added.

“I always want to show [what I can do], to improve, to show that I can jump over the next obstacle they put for me.

“I was always hard-headed and I am at a club where many people believe that it is difficult to score many goals, but with the quality of the players around me, it becomes easy.”

The former Barcelona striker has also revealed that his objective has been to lead Atletico to their first LaLiga Santander trophy since 2014.

“We are a team that has a lot of enthusiasm, the desire to go far, succeed and no one is going to take away our enthusiasm and competitiveness,” Suarez continued.

“There are a couple of days left and we will demonstrate for what we are made of.

“As a player you always have this kind of wishes, to come to a team like Atletico that hasn’t won titles for a long time and to be able to get one.”
