Josh Maja will be seeking to make another piece of Premier League history when he leads Fulham’s attack against Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday evening.
The Nigerian had a dream debut against Everton last weekend, scoring a brace to become the second Nigerian to score a brace on his full debut in the Premier League after Efan Ekoku who scored twice for Norwich in their 3-3 draw at the Riverside against Middlesbrough in May 1993.
The Bordeaux player who joined Fulham on loan on transfer deadline day is also one of a handful of Nigerians like Peter Odemwingie, John Utaka and Alex Iwobi to score on their full debut.
Wednesday evening, Maja will be looking to become the first Fulham player to score in each of his first two Premier League starts since Pavel Pogrebnyak in February 2012.
In fact Pogrebnyak scored on his first three Premier League starts against Stoke City (2-1 win),QPR (1-0 win) and the 5-0 demolition of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Craven Cottage, hitting a hat-trick in the game.
At age 22 and 51 days, Maja will also be seeking to become the youngest player to score in consecutive Premier League games for Fulham. The Nigerian international forward last week at aged 22 years and 49 days became the second-youngest player to score on his first Premier League start for Fulham, after Collins John in the 4-3 loss to Blackburn Rovers in April 2004 (18y 178d).
