Southampton boss Russell Martin says he hopes director of football Jason Wilcox would inform the club of any interest from Manchester United. Incoming figures at INEOS are reportedly keen to hire Wilcox as part of their revamped football operation at Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has had his INEOS-backed investment ratified by both the Football Association and the Premier League. United have already appointed Omar Berrada as CEO from rivals Manchester City and are set to make a wave of further hires that could also include Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth.
According to The Athletic, there is also interest from United in Southampton chief Wilcox.
“I hope it’s people putting two and two together and coming up with five. I’ve got a lot of respect for Jason and it’s no surprise someone would be interested in working with him.
“He’s so open and honest. I hope he would have a chat with us first [if an offer is made]. I have nothing but good things to say about him.”
