Manchester United confirm Cristiano Ronaldo transfer interest and Bruno Fernandes talks | Football | Sport

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opened up on Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Sunday’s clash with Wolves. The Juventus star is currently being linked with a move to Manchester City. And that would certainly risk tarnishing his legacy at Old Trafford.

With Ronaldo being heavily linked with a move to City, many supporters are fearing the worst.

Any move to the Etihad Stadium would cause uproar on the red half of Manchester, with Ronaldo one of the club’s best-ever players.

And Solskjaer, speaking ahead of their match with Wolves on Sunday, has revealed Bruno Fernandes has been talking with his compatriot about a potential return.

“We’ve always had a good communication,” he said.

“Bruno’s been talking to him as well and he knows what we feel about him.

“And if he was ever gonna move away from Juventus he knows we’re here.”

Solskjaer also opened up on the future of Jesse Lingard, too.

The England international has been linked with a move to West Ham after shining at the London Stadium last season.

And the 48-year-old has made it clear he wants Lingard to stay.

“I see him as a Man United player – I have seen loads of speculation about him but he has had a very good pre-season,” he said.

“He would have 100 per cent started first game of season.”

On team news for the match against Wolves, he said: “When you have disappointed of dropping points you want game straight away. I think the boys are ready.

“We are still missing Scott, Marcus, Alex, Dean Henderson.”

And, on new signings, he added: “Any manager is always looking for a little bit more.

“I am happy with the numbers we have, quality we have, it is really good. The staff with them fit each other really well.”

One player yet to feature for United this season is Donny van de Beek.

And Solskjaer said: “We started against Leeds and 5-1 win was a justification of the team selection.

“Next one Scott couldn’t play and Nemanja was best player in pre-season.

“(Donny) He will get his chances when the season gets going.

“Last season we had games every 4 or 4 days – so can’t really say that we made a decision.”
