Manchester United reportedly have no plans to make a move for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez unless an existing midfielder is offloaded.
Manchester United are reportedly not considering a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
Having struggled for regular starts under Diego Simeone during the 2020-21 season, Saul has supposedly been told that he is free to head for the exit door in the Spanish capital this summer.
United have long been linked with a move for the 26-year-old as they eye reinforcements in the engine room, while Chelsea are also rumoured to be contemplating a swoop.
However, the Daily Mail reports that United have distanced themselves from the speculation surrounding Saul, who is unlikely to move to Old Trafford unless an existing midfielder in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s ranks is offloaded.
Furthermore, with Chelsea still looking for buyers for Tiemoue Bakayoko, Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater, a possible loan move to Stamford Bridge is not a guarantee either.
Saul remains contracted to Atletico until 2026 and boasts one assist from two La Liga starts already this season.
