Rafael Nadal says he definitely felt he had improved after beating American Michael Mmoh at the Australian Open.
Nadal came into the Australian Open with a back injury, meaning he had no competitive matches until the first round.
He cruised through that one, though, and he says he has gone up a gear again in round two.
“I always try to be better – sometimes it happens and sometimes not,” Nadal said on court after his 6-1 6-4 6-2 win. “It’s a positive feeling winning in straight sets.
“I wish Michael all the very best for the rest of the season. I’ll focus on what’s coming.
“I had heard about Michael. Yesterday I watched some videos of him to learn a little more about him.”
Rafael Nadal will face British number two Cameron Norrie in round three.
