Italian Serie A club, Napoli are poised to slam a €100million release clause on Nigerian goalscoring sensation Victor Osimhen even as plans are on to give the striker an improved contract renewal.
Osimhen who joined Napoli in a club record fee of €70.00m from French Ligue 1 side Lille the previous season is already drawing interests from top clubsides across Europe despite having spent only one season in the Italian topflight.
Napoli in a desperate bid to keep their prized asset plan to increase Osimhen’s salary to give the forward additional motivation as well as insert a €100m release clause in the proposed contract renewal to keep prying clubs at bay as well as maximize their profit on the player in case he is eventually bought off by bigger clubs.
With the proposed plan, Osimhen who is currently valued at 50m on the Transfermarkt would see his value rise even higher by the end of the ongoing transfer market with the striker also expected to explode in the Serie A next season.
Top Italian football and transfer analyst Paolo Bargiggia revealed this much during the sports programe ‘Il Sogno nel Cuore – Paola di Bargiggia’ broadcasted and monitored on 1 Station Radio.
“Renewal for Victor Osimhen with a 100 million clause? Napoli do not deny it, but they are not in a hurry: they will consider this hypothesis at the end of the transfer market,” begins Bargiggia during the Radio show this week.
“In the plans of Napoli, the Nigerian will be sold in two seasons, at most: certainly not now. The ex Lille striker has an important salary, it is thought to raise it by a further million to give him even more motivation to do well.”
Speaking further, Bargiggia added that Napoli club president believes Osimhen is the club’s gold mine and is looking to maximize the financial gains on the player.
“President Aurelio De Laurentiis is convinced that he has a gold mine in his hands. The money actually spent to sign Osimhen will be recouped and much more’.
Osimhen who was held back by injury in his first season in the Serie A still managed to score 10 goals for Napoli to help the side earn an Europa League ticket for next season.
It is widely believed in Napoli circles that Osimhen’s injury setback (picked up while on national assignment) prevented the 22-year old from scoring more to help Napoli secure a top four finish which would have given them a Champions League ticket for next season.
