Former Sporting Charleroi coach, Mario Notaro says he is confident that Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has the ability to become a top player in the world.
Notaro who was Osimhen’s manager at Charleroi told Radio Kiss Kiss in an interview that the Nigerian international has an incredible quality beyond his age.
Recall that the Napoli star scored 20 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions for Charleroi before moving to Lille in the French Ligue 1.
However, Nataro said: “I must say that you could already see he was very strong, Napoli has taken on a striker who will assert himself a lot.
“I am convinced that he will become a top player in the world. He is truly extraordinary and has incredible quality. It is no coincidence that he is showing what he is capable of doing.”
The 22-year-old has scored six goals and bagged an assist in his last ten matches whereas he could only find the net on two occasions in his previous 16 games across all competitions.
Meanwhile,ex-Napoli striker, Massimiliano Varricchio says Osimhen has ample room for improvement despite the Nigerian forward having found form in front of goal in recent times.
Osimhen is already making a positive difference at Napoli having arrived during last summer’s transfer window on the back of his impressive campaign with Lille in the Ligue 1.
After joining Napoli for 80 million euros, the Nigerian international’s debut campaign has, however, been bedevilled by injury, suspension and coronavirus related problems.
The forward now appears to be gradually hitting top form again after scoring five goals in his last nine Serie A appearances for the Partenopei, something Varricchio appreciates.
“Osimhen? Initially, he had difficulty in playing and even to settle in but he has had a noticeable growth in the last period,” Varricchio said during an interview on 1 Station Radio.
“He is physically strong, if he has space, he has devastating speed and has ample room for improvement. We will have to aim for it. Failed for this year? No but he is improving.”
