Nigeria’s fastest woman in the 100m and 200m,Blessing Okagbare has moved above Mary Onyali in the Nigeria 60m indoor all-time list of performances.
Okagbare ran 7.17 seconds over the distance at the Randall Tyson Indoor centre in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA at the weekend to win the race.
The time, a new personal best ensured the 2014 Commonwealth Games double sprint champion remains the eighth fastest Nigerian ever over the distance, a position she hitherto shared with Onyali whose 7.18 seconds run in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1995 was equalled by the new Nigeria queen of the track in February 2010.
Onyali has now been pushed to ninth on the list while the duo of Chioma Ajunwa and Christy Opara-Thompson remain Nigeria’s fastest women over the distance (7.02 seconds).
