Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye kept his sixth clean sheet of the season Tuesday evening at the Covebo Stadion-De Koel where he stopped VVV Venlo from scoring in a Dutch Eredivise game.
It was the Nigerian’s 19th game of the season and he inspired his club, Sparta Rotterdam to their first league win in 10 games.
Interestingly, Okoye kept his last clean sheet before Tuesday evening’s game away at Fortuna Sittard last January.
It was also his fourth away clean sheet of the season as the goalkeeper prepares for his sixth game for Nigeria later this month in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic in Port Novo.
Okoye will also be hoping to keep his second clean sheet for Nigeria in six games.
The Sparta Rotterdam goalie is one of the three goalkeepers Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has invited for Africa Cup of Nations double header first against Benin Republic and later in Lagos against the Crocodiles of Lesotho.
