Kenneth Omeruo could miss the remainder of the Spanish Segunda regular season due to a muscle injury he sustained on Monday.
Omeruo was in action for Leganés who are currently chasing promotion into the La Liga Santander when he suffered the problem.
The center-back had to leave the pitch in the 37th minute of Leganés’ 1-1 La Liga SmartBank draw with Rayo Vallecano due to the injury.
He suffered the injury when in an attempt to clear the ball, he fell to the ground and he no longer get up.
The Nigerian international put his hand to the back of his thigh and without hesitation asked to be substituted.
And now, reports coming from the Spanish media have suggested that the Super Eagles defender could miss the remainder of the regular season.
“The curse of injuries leaves Leganés without Kenneth Omeruo due to a muscle injury. Against Logroñés there are already seven confirmed absences.
“Leganés have continued with its season-ending curse. The one that transforms their games into war parties with more injuries than goals and more concerns than certainties.
“This Monday, against Rayo Vallecano, Omeruo and José Arnáiz joined the legion of absences that coach Asier Garitano already has.
“Both are serious doubts to feature in the remainder of the regular season if confirmed that they suffered muscular injuries,” the report stated.
“You have to wait 24-48 hours. They look like two muscle injuries. Hopefully they are not serious,” Garitano said in a first assessment.
Omeruo who could be off the pitch for about three weeks was replaced by Sergio.
