Salvatore Caiazza, an Italian journalist believes Victor Osimhen can lead Napoli to glory and wants the Nigerian international to be the focal point of the club’s attack next season.
Caiazza spoke to Radio Crc during the “Arena Maradona” program on Saturday. “On Sunday, I expect a reactive Napoli, the Azzurri must redeem the defeat against Juventus.
“An undeserved knockout has arrived in Turin. Napoli must recover as soon as possible and try to win at least seven points in the next three games against Sampdoria, Inter Milan and Lazio.
“Indeed, if the Nerazzurri arrive at the ‘Maradona’ with a large advantage in the Scudetto fight, Napoli could also aim for the three maximum points.”
According to Caiazza, “Napoli lacks nastiness. It has been like this since Reina, Hamsik and Albiol left. I thought Bakayoko could fill this gap but I was wrong. I hope that Napoli can find a remedy in the next transfer market.”
Speaking of next season, “the fixed point will be Osimhen,” Caiazza told Radio Crc. “For me, the Nigerian is the man of this final rush and above all, he will be the starter in attack next year. I believe he can lead Napoli to glory.”
Osimhen, meanwhile, won a penalty that helped Napoli score their only goal in the 2-1 defeat to Juventus in Wednesday’s rescheduled Serie A match which was played at the Allianz Stadium.
After scoring a goal against Crotone last week Saturday, the Nigerian international could not add to his tally of four league goals after 15 appearances so far this season but he made a key contribution for the visitors.
Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Juventus with his 13th-minute effort while Paulo Dybala doubled the lead in the 73rd minute. Osimhen was later introduced for Diego Demme in the 54th minute.
And the Super Eagles striker was brought down by Giorgio Chiellini in the penalty area on the stroke of full-time. Lorenzo Insigne stepped forward to convert the resulting spot-kick.
Following his introduction in the second half, Osimhen registered three shots but none was on target and he was fouled three times.
Osimhen will aim to return to the scoresheet and help Napoli bounce back to winning ways when they visit Sampdoria for their Serie A fixture today.
