Osimhen guns for 5th Serie A goal against Ronaldo’s Juve

Victor Osimhen will be looking to score his fifth Serie A goal on Wednesday when Napoli lock horns with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus in a crunch encounter at the Allianz Stadium.

Compatriot, Simeon Nwankwo scored a brace in Saturday’s Serie A match but it was not enough as Osimhen’s goal helped Napoli beat Crotone 4-3 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Osimhen scored his fourth goal of the season in 14 matches by making it 2-0 for Gennaro Gattuso’s side, three minutes after Lorenzo Insigne opened the scoring in the 19th minute.

The Super Eagles attacking sensation was thereafter replaced by fellow striker, Andrea Petagna in stoppage time as he continued his rich vein of form in front of goal for Napoli.

Osimhen’s goal was only his second since November yet Napoli’s win took them to 56 points, level with reigning champions, Juventus ahead of the pair’s meeting on Wednesday night.

The young Nigerian striker who will hope to build on his second Serie A goal of the year may yet end a troubled first campaign in Naples in style should Napoli make the top four.

Osimhen recently returned from international duty with Nigeria where he scored once in the Super Eagles 3-0 win over Lesotho in an African Cup of Nations qualifiers last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Napoli have named their squad for the rescheduled game with Juventus today with Amir Rrahmani and Dries Mertens pushing to start ahead of Osimhen, says footballitalia.

Mertens is also being considered the favorite to start up-front instead of Osimhen with Piotr Zielinski and Hirving Lozano returning to join Lorenzo Insigne in the support trio.
