Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen bagged his seventh Serie A goal for Napoli in the 2-0 against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande on Monday.
The Super Eagles forward who rose from the bench in the 72nd minute to score Napoli’s last goal in the 5-2 thrashing of Lazio last week was again on the scoresheet for the Neapolitans.
Osimhen returned to the starting line-up featuring as Napoli’s arrowhead in a 4-2-3-1 formation adopted by coach Genaro Gattuso and scored a classical goal to help Napoli to the maximum points.
With Tiemoue Bakayoko having put Napoli ahead in the 11th minute assisted by Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Osimhen took matters in his own legs with a solo run from inside his own half to slot home past Torino’s goalkeeper for the second goal in the 13th minute.
Osimhen has now scored five times since he returned from a head injury in March and has featured in all of Napoli’s last nine serie A games.
The goal takes Osimhen’s haul to seven in 19 Serie A appearances while the win move Napoli to the 4th position on the league table, one step above Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus in the 5th position.
The 22-year old who also has two assists to his credit however, went on to be booked in the 68th minute (his third in the season) and was later substituted by Andrea Petagna in the 80th minute.
Osimhen has now clocked 1,171 minutes in the Serie A since arriving Napoli in a record €70.00m deal from French Ligue 1 side, Lille in the summer.
