Nigerian goalscoring sensation, Victor Osimhen has returned to Italy to team up with his Napoli teammates and officials ahead of the club’s pre-season training.
Osimhen who was in Nigeria on holidays after the end of the season was welcomed back in Italy by Napoli fans as well as new coach Luciano Spalletti who is excited to begin work with player who is currently the club’s record signing.
Italian sports journal, Corriere dello Sport reported that Napoli are now ready to officially start the new season adding that coach Spalletti is happy to see the Super Eagles striker in excellent condition ahead of the coming season.
The paper further reveals that Osimhen is expected to do more in the coming season after the forward only managed 10 goals in 24 Serie A appearances in his injury-laden debut season in Italy.
Writes Corriere delo Sport: “But it is clear to everyone including the coach that Osimhen can do and give much more as his potential is yet to be fully explored,’ wrote the paper.
“The fans are waiting for many goals from the center forward who will benefit from the coaching of Luciano Spaletti as his new coach.”
Osimhen indeed has his work cut out as he will be looking to hit the ground running next season to justify Napoli’s huge investment in landing him from French Ligue 1 side Lille, the previous season.
