Victor Osimhen will see a renowned neurosurgeon Alfredo Bucciero once he returns to Naples today. According to Italian newspaper, Repubblica, the striker has no recollection of the incident and the fact that the initial attempts to revive him were unsuccessful generated significant apprehension at the stadium.
The Nigerian spent the night at the Papa Giovanni XXIII clinic in Bergamo with Napoli doctor, Rafael Canonico who will stay with him until he is discharged today.
Osimhen will have to rest for some time and the timetable for his return is up in the air. The newspaper indicates that his presence for the next two matches versus Granada and Benevento seems out of the question at this point. It will further add to Napoli’s long list of absentees as Hirving Lozano and Andrea Petagna are currently dealing with thigh problems.
On the other hand, Dries Mertens has headed back to Italy after spending time in Antwerp to rehab a lingering ankle injury and should be able to resume playing later this week after missing the past five matches.
