Reading boss: ‘Ejaria will be back soon’ …Eagles prospect treated for concussion

Reading FC manager, Veljko Paunovic has revealed that Ovie Ejaria will be back soon after the Super Eagles prospect was treated for concussion after their match on Friday.

Ejaria bagged his fifth assist of the season as he helped Reading beat Bournemouth 3-1 in the SkyBet Championship encounter played at the Madejski Stadium on Friday night.

He set up Reading’s third goal scored by Lucas Joao with two minutes left in the first half in what was his 21st appearance with two goals under his belt so far this season.

Born in England to Nigerian parents, the former Liverpool player switched his allegiance to Nigeria last year, having featured for England U-20 and U-21 teams from 2016 to 2018.

The 23-year-old Ejaria was taken off for fellow Nigerian compatriot, Omatsone Folarin “Sone” Aluko popularly referred to as Sone Aluko in the 77th minute with the scores at 3-0.

Reading boss, Paunovic gave an update into the fitness of Ejaria after the Bournemouth win. Speaking after the game, Paunovic confirmed he is not expected to be ruled out for long.

On Ejaria, Paunovic said: “It should not be for a long time. He got a slap in the eye which caused blurred vision so he had to come off. He is being assessed and will see a specialist.

“But I believe this kind of injury is normally treated as a concussion. So, we have to go through that protocol but hopefully he can be ready for the next game,” the coach said.
