Victor Osimhen who has tested positive for coronavirus could be facing a very heavy fine at Napoli after images of the striker’s party in Lagos came into the public glare.
Napoli have officially confirmed that Osimhen has tested positive for coronavirus after the Nigerian forward underwent medical tests on Thursday upon his return to Italy.
Napoli splashed out the sum of 70 million pounds to land the services of Osimhen from Lille of France in the summer and the 22-year-old has scored two goals in eight games.
The former Wolfsburg and Sporting Charleroi attacker has, however, been out with a shoulder injury since November 13 during Nigeria’s 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone in Benin.
According to Giambattista Cucci: “Victor Osimhen tested positive for Covid-19 but some videos circulated on Instagram by a Nigerian DJ on the 22nd birthday of the Napoli striker last December 29 in Lagos in Nigeria caused a stir.
“The video showed the goal-bomber without a mask celebrating with some compatriots. Lightness obviously paid a high price. If everything is confirmed, the Nigerian will face a heavy penalty from Napoli.
“Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis can be expected to be literally furious at the behavior of his player who did not comply with the protocol of the Neapolitan company regarding the anti-contagion rules.
“All this suggests that Napoli can heavily fine the player. In less than three weeks, there is the Italian Super Cup match against Juventus and the blue club risks not being able to bet on the most expensive purchase in its history.
“In the Neapolitan house, there is tension and embarrassment for what happened,” Giambattista Cucci stated.
