Sadiq – The Royal Spanish Football Federation Appeal Committee has uphold the decision of both the centre referee and the Competition Committee which found Almeria and Nigeria forward, Umar Sadiq guilty of reckless challenge which fetched him two yellow cards and a one match ban.
Sadiq was sent off in the Spanish second division game against Fuenlabrada after receiving two yellow cards but Almeria FC officials believe the second yellow card was harsh and asked the Competition Committee to cancel it.
The Committee thought otherwise and upheld the decision of the centre referee.
Not satisfied and believing the Appeal body will see reason with their arguments, Almeria lodged an appeal with the higher adjudicatory body.
The club believes the images of the action is clear enough for the Appeal body to cancel the card and by extension the red card and the one match suspension.
With the appeal body’s decision, Sadiq will now miss Sunday’s game but will be available on Tuesday for the rescheduled league game away at Kenneth Omeruo’s Leganes.
Sadiq has been a revelation in Spain since his switch from Serbian side, Partizan Belgrade last October. He has scored 11 goals, provided four assists in 21 league appearances so far this term.
