Almeria boss, José Gomes has spoken about Umar Sadiq’s disallowed goal in their defeat to Leganes in a league tie, insisting the striker did not touch the ball with his hand.
Kenneth Omeruo scored the winning goal for Leganes which came from a goal down to beat Almeria 2-1 in a La Liga SmartBank tie with compatriot, Sadiq having put his side ahead.
Central defender, Omeruo netted Leganes’ winner on 90 minutes assisted by Javier Eraso after Borja Baston equalised on 48 minutes after being set up by Jonathan Cristian Silva.
Before then, though, Sadiq shot Almeria up in the eight minute, thereby, equalling his best scoring record in a league season when he scored twelve times for Partizan Belgrade.
The Portuguese boss while speaking on the referee’s ruling said: ‘I have seen the VAR image. I did not see Sadiq touching the ball with his hand, which is what the ref said.
“But I cannot do anything about it. It is up to us to play and you can comment about it. All I have to do is to be focused on helping my team,’ explained the coach to the media.
Sadiq has now found the back of the net 14 times in 25 appearances in all competitions since joining Almeria from Partizan in October 2020, scoring twelve league goals.
