Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq has emerged the most valuable player in the Spanish Segunda Division following the recently concluded season.
According to the latest update on Transfermarkt website, Sadiq topped the list of players with increased valuation in the Segunda with the Nigerian now valued at fifteen million ahead of four other teammates in the top-10.
Sadiq who bagged 28 goals and nine assists in 56 appearances across all competitions for Almeria in the Spanish second tier saw his value almost doubled from 8million to 15million presently upstaging Raúl de Tomás who was previously in first position at 10million.
Despite his high goals return however, it was not enough to help Almeria secure promotion to the Spanish topflight as they were eliminated in the semifinals of the playoffs against Girona.
The 24-year old Nigerian has the highest addition in value of 7million with others having 3million and less.
With Sadiq leading the top-10 players with increased valuation at 15m, others are Raúl de Tomás (RCD Espanyol) – 10m; Adri Embarba (RCD Espanyol) – 7m; Javi Puado (RCD Espanyol) – 6m [+2,5m]; Sergi Darder (RCD Espanyol) – 6m.
The rest are Jorge Cuenca (UD AlmerÃa) – 6m [+3m]; Manu Morlanes (UD AlmerÃa) – 5m [+2m]; Samú Costa (UD AlmerÃa) – 5m [+2m]; Adri Pedrosa (RCD Espanyol) – 5m and Sergio Akieme (UD AlmerÃa) – 5m [+1,5m].
Umar Sadiq is currently on the wanted list of top European clubs and it is highly doubtful if Almeria will be able to hold on to their prized asset ahead of next season.
