Sagna, Wilshere: Bukayo Saka is Arsenal’s best player!

Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna was asked by fans who he believed was the best player in Mikel Arteta’s squad and issued the same verdict as former teammate Jack Wilshere.

While the pair have both seen their time in north London come to a close, it’s clear they have still been keeping an eye on their former employers.

It’s been a difficult season for the Gunners, who are well adrift in the Premier League, sitting in the bottom half of the standings, and their campaign rides on Europa League success.

One bright spark has been the continued development of Bukayo Saka who, at the age of 19, has established himself as an integral member of the squad.

Therefore, it was pretty unsurprising to see Sagna select the teenager as Arsenal’s best player this season during a Q&A session on Instagram.

That followed Wilshere’s own assessment on his fellow Hale End graduate, where he was asked the same question last month and replied: “Saka! What a player.”

Saka’s excellent performances have already been widely recognised, with French outlet L’Equipe recently naming him as the ninth-best young player in European football.

The teenager has been a staple in Arsenal’s side this season, with there being just four Premier League matches where he was not named as a starter.

He has contributed five goals and two assists in the league, alongside a single goal in the Europa League that came last week in the draw against Benfica.

Saka has also been capped four times by England and is set to feature in this summer’s European Championship.
