Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi is on the brink of an immediate return to the Skybet Championships with West Brom after the Baggies could only draw 1-1 with visiting Wolves at the Molineux stadium Monday night.
The result means the Baggies are 10 points adrift of safety with just four games left and could be relegated this Sunday at the Emirates stadium if they lose to their host,Arsenal irrespective of Newcastle United’s results at the King Power stadium against Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City.
Ajayi was on from the start in the game, his 29th of the season and the draw was his ninth for Sam Allardyce’s men in the games he has featured in in his first season in the Premier League.
The Nigerian centre-back featured on the right side of a three-man defence in a 3-5-1-1 formation adopted by Allardyce.
Fabio Silva puts Wolves ahead with his strike just before the break while Mbaye Diagne scored the equalizer for the Baggies in the 62nd minute following an assist by Conor Townsend.
Ajayi has two goals to his credit for West Brom in the competition after helping the Baggies secure promotion to the English topflight last season. He has won just four of the games he featured in and lost 16.
