Crotone Sporting Director Giuseppe Ursino says many Serie A clubs have been making enquiries about the club’s top scorer so far this term with 19 league goals, Nigeria’s Simy Nwankwo.
Ursino also revealed the gangling, 29 year old Nigerian is also wanted abroad following his incredible outings for Crotone who will be playing in the Serie B next season.
“Simy last year also had requests from abroad, but his obsession was to play again in Serie A with Crotone. This year there are more requests from Italy. He has everything, he’s an extraordinary guy. Simy has had exceptional improvements,” Ursino said.
Crotone coach, Serse Cosmi is convinced Simy is good to play in any of the top to the middle ranked clubs in the Serie A and insists the player is too big to play in the Serie B again.
Simy featured 70 times for Crotone in the Serie B across two seasons, scored 34 goals and provided eight assists and has played 10 more across three seasons for the club in the Serie, scoring 29 times and provided four assists.
This term he has scored 19 times in 36 games which has made him the first Nigerian to score as many goals in a Serie A season while his 29 goals in 80 games makes him Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in the competition.
