Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi said the Eagles will be approaching the game against Benin Republic with all seriousness to get the needed result to seal qualification for the African Cup of Nations scheduled for Cameroon next year.
In a chat with Complete Sports at the team’s Eko Hotels camp, Shehu Abdullahi said all the players have resolved to seal the qualification ticket in Porto Novo rather than wait for the last game against Lesotho which according to him should be a mere formality.
The Omonia Nicosia player said the Eagles know what is at stake and cannot afford any slip-up again having come this far in the qualifiers adding that the Eagles want to maintain their unbeaten streak all through the qualifiers.
“We are taking this game very seriously because it is the game we need a good result to secure our qualification for the AFCON finals,” begins the Cyprus-based defender.
“We don’t want to wait till the last game to book our ticket so we are all focused and training hard to get the job done against Benin Republic.
“It will be a really tough game because they (Benin Republic) need to beat us for them to qualify. So all of us players know what is at stake because we can’t afford any slip-up like what happened during our previous matches with Sierra Leone.
“We have also not lost any game during the qualifiers and we want to keep it that way all through the qualifiers,” Abdullahi sums up.
