Simeone Equals Aragonés’ Win Record At Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid’s victory over Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal means much more than three more points for gaffer Diego Simeone as the Argentine continues to make history at the club. He has equalled Luis Aragonés feat in number of victories achieved as coach of the rojiblanco with 308 wins. In addition, he has achieved it in 512 games,100 less than Aragonés’ 612.

Simeone’s records at Atletico are devastating: The club has scored 849 goals and conceded 377. In LaLiga he has achieved 62% of victories, being the coach with the best Atletico average in history ahead of Helenio Herrera (52’43%), Ricardo Zamora (51’83%), Luis Aragonés (47’67%) and Radomir Antic (45’14%).

Simeone became head coach of the club in 2011 and his tenure has given rise to one of the most successful times in Atletico’s history.
