Simeon Nwankwo more commonly known as Simy has the desire to stay in Italy. And that is despite the fact that the lanky Nigerian striker will leave Crotone this summer.
Simy has broken all sorts of records after scoring 20 Serie A goals for Crotone so far this season. However, the club’s defenders have failed to do their job with Crotone already relegated to the Serie B after leaking goals aplenty.
Simy will, however, not be going down to the Italian second division with Crotone after such an exceptional campaign on a personal level.
Reports say Lazio, a Serie A club-side have made an official bid worth 25 million euros for the newly recalled Super Eagles goal-bomber.
Crotone are nonetheless asking Lazio to come back with a much-improved offer of nothing less than 30 million euros.
And according to Sky Sport Italy, Lazio will likely land the signature of the 29-year-old forward simply because Simy wants to remain in Italy.
“For the Nigerian striker, the highest economic proposal is that of a Championship club but his desire to stay in the Serie A could make the difference.
“Lazio who are only waiting to understand what coach Simone Inzaghi’s future will be have already intensified contacts with Crotone for Simy.
“After such a wonderful season on a personal level with Crotone in the Serie A , Simy would like to remain in the top division of Italian football next year despite the Calabrian club’s relegation to the Serie B.
“The 20 goals scored by the Nigerian striker born in 1992 in this championship did not go unnoticed.
“Crotone have an important offer on the table (the highest received to date) from an English Championship club but the will of Simy would be to continue playing in the Serie A.
“And among the clubs in the Italian league the most concrete contacts have been with Lazio, who would gladly add him to their offensive department.
“The Nigerian is very popular with the Biancocelesti who in the coming weeks could decide to try and strike a deal with Crotone,” Sky Sport Italy wrote.
