Simy: ‘Osimhen can be the best striker in the world’

Simeon Nwankwo is backing fellow Nigerian compatriot and striker, Victor Osimhen to go ahead and have an exceptional career as a professional footballer.

Osimhen joined Napoli in a big move from Ligue 1 outfit, Lille last summer but struggled in his first few months at the club and spent over two months on the sidelines.

The 22-year-old picked up a shoulder injury on international duty with Nigeria, his return to action was also delayed after he tested positive to Covid-19 early this year.

He has, however, hit top form in recent weeks after hitting the net eight times and contributing one assist in his last 14 top-flight appearances for the Partenopei.

With his sparkling performances in front of goal for Napoli in recent times, Simy believes very strongly that Osimhen will go ahead and conquer the world of football.

“I am curious to see what my compatriot, Osimhen can do ten years from now. For me he is a very strong striker who is destined for an exceptional career,” Simy told Fanpage.

“The Italian championship is perfect for him because he can improve a lot. In my opinion and in a very short time, he can become one of the best around.

‘He is constantly growing and I am particularly happy for him because he deserves it. He is fast, he is powerful, he has technique, he really has everything to do great things.

“I also hope so as a Nigerian because he could be the future of our national team but also of football in general for the next ten years.”
