Sky Sports apologise to James Maddison for gaffe after Tottenham beat Fulham | Football | Sport

Sky Sports presented Dave Jones was forced to apologise to Tottenham star James Maddison on Monday night following his side’s 2-0 win over Fulham. Technical difficulties threatened to derail the midfielder’s post-match interview, with the playmaker complaining of an issue on his headset.

Whilst chatting with Jones and ex-Liverpool star Jamie Carragher, Maddison turned to a member of the Sky Sports team with him in the tunnel and said: “I can actually hear Marco Silva’s interview in my ear now.” The ex-Leicester City then hesitated and pointed to his headphones, much to the amusement of Carragher.

The pundit asked, “What’s he saying?”, prompting Maddison to wittily reply: “He’s saying Maddison’s goal was excellent, I think.” Carragher, Jones and Wolves boss Gary O’Neil laughed at the remark before Maddison continued: “You’re louder, Dave, but I can just hear it in the background.”

Jones then replied: “We’ll try and sort that out as we carry on, James, we’ll try and remedy that.”
