Stan Kroenke has firmly underlined his desire to remain as Arsenal’s owner amid interest from Spotify’s Daniel Ek.
A statement from Kroenke Sports Enterprises on Tuesday evening said: ‘In recent days we have noted media speculation regarding a takeover of Arsenal football club.
‘We remain 100% committed to Arsenal, are not selling any stake in the club, have not received any offer and will not entertain any offer.
‘Our ambition for Arsenal remains to compete to win the biggest trophies in the game and our focus remains on improving our competitiveness on the pitch to achieve this.’
Spotify owner Ek tweeted last Friday that he is interested in purchasing Arsenal and said that he has been a Gunners supporter all his life.
‘As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring,’ Ek wrote.
But Kroenke’s response on Tuesday is there to dismiss Ek’s interest, despite the Spotify chief reportedly drawing in the support of Gunners legends Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira ahead of a mooted £1.8billion bid.
Gunners fans gathered in their thousands outside the Emirates stadium last Friday to protest against Kroenke’s ownership following Arsenal’s involvement in the doomed Super League.
Arsenal were one of the founder members of the tournament which was announced last Sunday before falling to pieces amid fan outrage across the continent.
Arsenal, like the other members of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ withdrew from the plans last Tuesday.
Mikel Arteta’s side lost 1-0 to Everton last Friday and are currently 10th in the Premier League standings.
