Tennis news: Emma Raducanu hailed for US Open breakthrough performance | Tennis | Sport

Croft continued: “She’s kind of already got in her head what kind of tennis she needed to play but it was clinical, wasn’t it?

“And it’s also the margins that she gives herself on the finishing point, it’s always within a section in that corner but it’s so accurate.

“And the way that she was moving the ball around from corner to corner and every time the rallies were extended her opponent was starting to get pushed further and further and further behind the baseline to the point where she could not impose her game anymore.”

Despite the scoreline, Raducanu’s top 50 opponent continued to fight but was no match for the qualifier.

“Sorribes Tormo tried everything, she tried a few slices, she tried a bit of serve and volley,” Annabel added.

“I mean you have to give full marks to her, she never let her head drop, the body language didn’t change. There was absolutely nothing she could do.”
