Terem Moffi resumes the hunt for Victor Ikpeba Ligue 1 goal record

Terem Moffi will be keen to return to scoring form when Lorient face Metz in a Ligue 1 encounter which will take place at the Stade du Moustoir on Sunday evening.

Lorient will look to take a step towards survival while Moffi who has drawn blanks in his last two appearances will be looking to score again when it matters most.
After a run of six goals in three league ties for the relegation-threatened Lorient, the Nigerian forward appears to have forgotten his scoring boots somewhere else.

Moffi is still in search of that elusive goal which will make him beat ex-Super Eagles forward, Victor Ikpeba’s Ligue 1 record as the highest scoring Nigerian in a single season.

And that is the case after Moffi fired blanks when Lorient were thumped 4-1 by Olympique Lyon in a French top-flight match that was played at the Groupama Stadium last Saturday.

Ikpeba scored 14 Ligue 1 goals for Monaco in 1997/98, making the Prince of Monaco the highest scoring Nigerian in a single season in the French elite football division uptil this very moment.

Moffi himself has hit the net 14 times while also bagging two assists in 30 league games in what has been a breakthrough season for him and needs to score one goal to surpass Ikpeba’s record.

The young Nigerian striker actually went all out to score his 15th Ligue 1 goal for Lorient against Lyon but fired blanks before being taken off for Pierre-Yves Hamel 18 minutes to the end.
