Thomas Tuchel has transformed Chelsea since arriving in January 2021, and his Champions League winning side have broken and English football record following their 1-0 win over Premier League new boys Brentford.
Ben Chilwell scored the only goal of the game in what was a hard-fought win against the Bee’s as his strike just before half time was enough to secure all three points and send Chelsea back to the top of the Premier League.
Chelsea did have Eduoard Mendy to thank, as the Senegalese international produced a sensational display in goal to keep Brentford at bay, who dominated the Blues throughout the second half.
However, they held on and in doing so, broke an old record.
Chelsea are the first team ever in the top four tiers of English football to win seven consecutive London derbies, and they did so by only conceding one goal.
The incredible stat highlights the impact Tuchel has made since taking over from former manager Frank Lampard, and it’s just one of many stats that have put the German in the conversation as one of the best managers in Europe.
The Blues have more clean sheets than goals conceded under Tuchel since the German arrived at Stamford Bridge, and it’s by no fluke that the European Champions sit top of the Premier League, with the capability of defending their Champions League crown.
To make up Chelsea’s incredible record away in London, they have beaten Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Arsenal and Brentford, and have been victorious twice against Tottenham to complete the run.

Chelsea have only lost one Premier League game all season, as they lost 1-0 to Manchester City in what was a disappointing performance, but the Blues remain one of the biggest title threats despite the fact that Tuchel is extremely dismissive at this stage.
“It’s too early but it’s better to be there [top of the league] than the other way round but it’s too early,” the Blues boss said.
Way too many teams who are close so with every draw or every loss, you can win or lose three, four positions.
“This is not the main point in October, the way we play is what I like, like I said I’m happy about the win against Southampton, a late win but an important win today we needed a bit of luck in the last 20 minutes.
“I’m happy with the energy, I can recognise us, I’m happy with the way we play and away we go.”
Here is Chelsea’s record breaking run on the road against teams from London:
