Tottenham news: Dressing room reaction to Harry Kane transfer decision | Football | Sport

Pierluigi Gollini has revealed the Tottenham dressing room was delighted to hear the news that Harry Kane will be staying at the club. The Spurs marksman confirmed via a statement on his Twitter today that he will be staying put in north London and not joining Manchester City, as speculated.

The Premier League champions were hopeful of striking a deal for the England captain despite seeing two bids of £100million and £128m knocked back by Tottenham.

With less than a week to go in the transfer window, City were refusing to lose hope that Spurs may cave in to a late deal.

But Daniel Levy has held firm after adopting a stubborn no-nonsense approach to talks.

Now Tottenham’s new backup goalkeeper Gollini, who was conducting his first press conference as a Tottenham player, has admitted the decision was received with joy amongst the squad.

Now Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking to build on that as he welcomes the club’s talisman back, with no distractions in his way.

“Great news. Fantastic news for everybody,” Nuno said. “We are all very happy. One of the best players in the world. We are all delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us.

“I think since Harry joined us he has been working, so this is what we value. His attitude in training sessions has been great. It’s finished, Harry is going to be with us.

“He worked today, he is an option for tomorrow. Like I said, fantastic news for everybody.”

Kane came off the bench for the final 20 minutes in the 1-0 win at Molineux last Sunday.

Now he will be looking to earn a starting place after returning from an extended summer break following his involvement at the European Championships with England.

More new faces could follow Gollini, Bryan Gil and Cristian Romero through the door, too.

Tottenham have now agreed a fee with Metz for Pape Sarr while the club remain locked in talks with Wolves for Adama Traore after seeing an opening bid rejected.
