Tottenham transfer news: Daniel Levy summer plan being blocked by Tanguy Ndombele | Football | Sport

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has failed to settle into life in north London – and after two years of dismal performances, the French midfielder has finally told Spurs bosses he wants to leave the club.

Ndombele joined Spurs from Lyon in 2019 for a club-record fee of £54million, decimating the previous £37m record held by Davinson Sanchez.

After scoring on his debut in a 3-1 win over Aston Villa, the Frenchman seemed set to become a vital cog in the Spurs engine room.

However, after some lax performances, Ndombele was in and out of the side; and just six months later, then-Spurs manager Jose Mourinho criticised him for his poor professionalism.

This resulted in him playing just 21 league games that season under the Portuguese manager, leading to him being ostracised from the starting XI in favour of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer of 2020.

And despite warranting a fee of £40m, it is believed Spurs are willing to match that fee.

Spurs may also be due a large £150m windfall if Harry Kane moves to Manchester City before the deadline next Tuesday.

However, with Daniel Levy not budging on his asking price, and City reportedly registering their interest in ex-Man United hero Cristiano Ronaldo, it appears a move for Kane is further away than ever.

Kane had missed training at Hotspur Way amid a supposed ‘breaking’ of the gentleman’s agreement he and Levy had.

It was thought that if City had lodged a large enough bid, then Levy would let Kane go.

However, Levy has seemingly changed his stance heading into the final week of the summer transfer window which could leave City powerless in trying to sign Kane.

Spurs look to continue their 100% record at the weekend at home to newly-promoted Watford.
