Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong is pushing to return for Watford’s derby game with Luton Town this weekend after picking up a injury in the win over Reading last week.
After that match, head coach Xisco Munoz said he thought the Super Eagles assistant captain would be alright for this weekend’s match and that initially it did not look like he had picked up too big a problem.
“Troost-Ekong was a little tired and he stopped in a good time.”
The former Udinese of Italy centre back will undergo a late fitness assessment ahead of the game at Kenilworth Road.
Troost-Ekong has appeared 29 times for the Hornets in the Skybet championships so far this term, starting 28 of them and he has scored once from his centre back position.
Meanwhile, Isaac Success will be looking forward to making his third start in eight appearances since he returned from an achilles tendon rupture early last month while the other Nigerian at the club, former Flying Eagles star, Tom Dele-Bashiru is still out injured from the cruciate ligament rupture he copped last October at Reading.
He will likely be unavailable for promotion-chasing Watford who are second on the log on 82 points from 41 games, eight behind Norwich City while Swansea are third with 75 points from the same number of games.
