William Troost-Ekong: ‘We Want To Make Our Fans Happy’

Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost-Ekong has said the Eagles will be going all out for a win against the Squirrels of Benin Republic to make Nigerian fans happy.

The Watford defender in a chat with Complete Sports at the Eko Hotels camp of the Eagles said he and his teammates are focused on winning in Porto Novo not only to book qualification for the AFCON but to also reward the fans who have kept faith with the Eagles during the qualifiers.

William Troost-Ekong admitted the game will be tough but believes the Eagles have quality players to get the desired result against the Squirrels.

“We expect a tough game against Benin Republic because there are no easy games anymore, but we will be going all out for a win to secure our qualification because we want to make our fans happy,” begins the England-based centre-back.

“We drew the last two games which was a bit disappointing so it will be good to get back the winning vibes even though we are aware that just one point will be enough to secure our qualification for the Nations Cup.

“I believe we’ve got a good squad with lots of qualities, we are training hard, and we are all in high spirits. So we will do what we need to do to qualify in Porto Novo and make all our fans happy,” said Troost-Ekong who prefers not to talk about the other game against Lesotho.

“We want to take things step-by-step. The focus now is on Benin Republic this weekend and after that, we will shift focus to the game against Lesotho,” Troost-Ekong said.
