New Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has drawn up a list of 23 mostly of foreign based players to execute the Turkish Women Cup in Antalya, Turkey next month.
The tournament scheduled for February 15 -25 will involve eight countries including the host nation and it will afford coach Waldrum the opportunity to formally meet with the players and officials for the first time since he was contracted in October 2020.
Usual suspects like Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, Asisat Oshoala, Sonia Ngozi Okobi, Rasheedat Ajibade, Francisca Ordegah, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Tochukwu Oluehi, Josephine Chukwunonso, Halimat Ayinde and Chikwendu Ihezuo top the list of invitees.
“We will include a number of home based players in the list of 23 so that we won’t be short of quality and quantity when we also travel to Morocco for a friendly match later in February. We are looking forward to working with the new coach,” a team official told Complete Sports.
“The biggest joy is that we are returning to play international football again after over one year of inactivity. We are looking forward to the Turkish cup and the game in Morocco. It is another opportunity to test how far we have progressed,’ ‘our source stated.
Zambia, Nigeria, Sweden, Argentina and host Turkey are participating in the yearly tournament.
