Tyson Fury to meet Deontay Wilder for trilogy fight on July 24 in Las Vegas

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will resume their rivalry on July 24 in Las Vegas, according to reports.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ won his arbitration hearing after an independent mediator confirmed the former WBC heavyweight champion was entitled to a trilogy fight with Fury.

With Wilder set to refuse step-aside money from Team Fury to allow the Brit to fight domestic rival Anthony Joshua, a deadline of September 15 was set by which time the two men must meet.

However, The Athletic claim it will be much sooner than that and July 24 is the reported date for the trilogy fight.

Las Vegas is likely to host the world heavyweight title fight just like the second fight, with the Allegiant Stadium and the T-Mobile Arena early front runners to host the fight as they can accept complete capacity.

Wilder and Fury fought to a controversial draw in December 2018, before ‘The Gypsy King’ exacted his revenge in February of last year by emphatically stopping the 35-year-old.

Although there was contracted third fight written in, the clause had seemingly expired by the end of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the inability to find the funds required to host a third fight.

Fury and his team duly decided to explore the possibility of fighting Joshua for the undisputed heavyweight championship, with August 14 in Saudi Arabia seemingly the date and venue.

Yet Wilder’s arbitration victory on Monday means this has now been delayed and it caused the two Brits to get into something of a spat on Twitter on Wednesday evening.

Joshua railed at Fury on Twitter this week, asking, “If there was an arbitration going on, why announce to the world we are fighting!?”

The WBO are instead likely to call Oleksandr Usyk as mandatory challenger to Joshua, with an announcement expected on Friday and a fight potentially booked for August so as to free up the winter months to finally set up Fury vs Joshua.
