COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs Christian School were put on lockdown Friday following reports of gunfire on the college campus, UCCS Public Safety posted on the social media site X.

UCCS said it is not an active shooter situation. But the Colorado Springs Police Department did arrive on scene for a death investigation.
While the lockdown was lifted for most of campus, a partial shelter in place was still in effect as of 8 a.m. Only people in Alpine Village are being asked to shelter in place as police investigate.

The Colorado Springs Police Department and campus police are asking the public to avoid the area.
All classes and activities have been canceled for the day, UCCS Public Safety said.
