UFC 261: Conor McGregor calls out Kamaru Usman

Tweeting up a storm after a big UFC pay-per-view has become something of a tradition for Conor McGregor, and this time “The Notorious” turned his attention to Kamaru Usman.

“The Nigerian Nightmare” responded on Sunday night to the former featherweight and lightweight champion’s claim that he will be coming for Usman’s 170-pound title soon, before the Irishman launched into a rant about a signed fight being rescheduled “with no reason given” and “juice heads” (taking performance-enhancing drugs).

McGregor was reacting to Usman’s stunning second-round KO of Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261 inside a fully packed VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

“Usman even copying my shots now. Am I to fight this guy at some stage?” McGregor tweeted, alongside a video clip from his rematch with Dustin Poirier. “I think so. Can’t be copying my words and my shots and not get a smack for it. I like 170. It’s mine soon.”

“I’m a block at 170 guys,” he added. “Give me till end of year at this 155 weight. I’ll get the strap and then I’ll go up again. After green fungus panties hahaha ‘cos any one of these fools can get it’ – Usman.”

It wasn’t long until Usman hit back. “Except when I touch you at 170, they go out,” replied the welterweight champ. “They don’t even go out at 155 any more for you. I finish people. You get finished.”

“Relax there, carbuncles,” McGregor then said. “You spotty back pox. You were ringside last time I fought at 170 [against Donald Cerrone, in January 2020]. 40 seconds is all it took. Why did you reschedule Burns fight? What was the reason, that was never given to the public, why that already signed fight was then rescheduled?”

The 32-year-old was referring to Usman’s bout with former teammate Gilbert Burns being rearranged from UFC 256 last December to UFC 258 in February.
