Umar Sadiq, Nwakali on fire in Spain

Former Nigeria U-23 star, Umar Sadiq and captain of the victorious Golden Eaglets team to the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, Kelechi Nwakali were both on song Tuesday in the Spanish second division match week 32 games.

Sadiq scored his club, Almeria’s third goal in a 3-0 spanking of their host, Malaga to consolidate their hold on third spot on the log in the race for promotion to the first division (LaLiga) with 60 points.

The goal was his 15th in 28 league games since he switched Serbian side, Partizan Belgrade for Almeria last October and his first in his last three games.

While Sadiq is helping Almeria in the battle to return to the top flight in Spain, Alcoron loaner, Nwakali has been specifically ‘bought’ from struggling LaLiga side, SD Huesca to help the second division outfit escape the drop to the third tier league in Spanish football.

Nwakali scored his first goal on Spanish soil in Alcoron’s 1-1 draw with visiting Real Oviedo.

The point moved the club one point above the relegation zone from 32 games, one game more than Sabadell, Castellion and Ramon Azeez’s Cartegena who have 30, 30 and 29 points respectively.

Nwakali got the struggling Alcoron into the lead on two minutes before the team allowed the visitors steal a valuable point via Gustavo Blanco’s 84th minute equaliser.
