Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses saw red for Spartak Moscow in their Russian Cup defeat to Dynamo.
Moses was dismissed for two yellow cards in the 2-0 loss.
He later said, “Let’s start with the penalty: the ball hit me in the shoulder, and the referee thought that if I made a move with my hand, I was breaking the rules. He also gave a yellow card.
“I didn’t understand this answer. Whether I raised my hand or not – what’s the difference? The ball hit the shoulder! And after all, initially the referee did not stop the game. Only then VAR intervened in the matter. … So what’s next?
“My finishing move after hitting Ponce. On any other day it would have been a goal, but the Dynamo goalkeeper reacted very quickly and managed to move to the near corner. And finally, dismissal. Then I messed up. Lost the ball on the flank and knocked down an opponent…”
Moses has scored just once and provided one assist in 11 games in all competitions for his Russian team. He has featured 10 times in the Russian Premier League, starting nine of them while he got sent off in his first cup game for the club.
