West Ham United are the “main candidates” to sign Genk’s 35-goal striker Paul Onuachu, according to reports.
The striker made the move to Europe in 2012 as he joined Danish outfit FC Midtjylland. He was a bit-part player during his first few years at the club, but he shone between 2016 and 2019.
Onuachu netted 62 goals from his 116 outings for them during this three-season spell. This form led to his move to Belgian outfit Genk ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
The 27-year-old has been on fire for Genk of late. He netted ten times in his debut season and he followed this up with 35 goals in 41 outings in 2020/21.
West Ham are in the market for a new striker and Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur have reported that Onuachu is on their radar.
They suggest that Genk are after a fee that would blow their record sale “off the table”. They add that West Ham are the “main candidates” currently, but talks are “not yet over” for the striker.
