West Ham Vs Everton: Alex Iwobi seeks to end 12-game goal drought

Alex Iwobi is still pushing for European action for the 2021/22 season even as Everton pay a visit to West Ham United in a Premier League encounter which holds on Sunday.

Everton’s top-four aspirations appeared to have come to a crashing end after the home defeat to Aston Villa right at Goodison Park last weekend, a game Iwobi featured in.

Iwobi who has always found himself in and out of Everton’s starting line-ups in recent times started as the Toffees suffered a 2-1 Premier League loss to visitors, Villa.

The Nigerian international was, however, taken off the field of play by manager, Carlo Ancelotti and replaced by Bernard 14 minutes to the end of the top-flight encounter.

Iwobi joined from Arsenal on deadline day in the summer of 2019 but in 63 appearances for Everton, he has become a player who often frustrates supporters given his talent.

Last week, Iwobi outlined his desire to win more trophies and continue racking up the international caps, having won one FA Cup and two Community Shields with the Gunners.

Ancelotti’s Everton are still in the mix for European football this season, potentially the Europa League and they could make do by beating West Ham at the London Stadium.

Iwobi needs to improve on his stats of an EPL goal this season with him on a twelve-game drought, having scored on January 12 when Everton beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1.
