Former Liverpool player and current TV pundit Jamie Carragher has weighed in on the eternal debate that has plagued contemporary football: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?
Carragher praised both players, saying he thinks Messi is a better player, but that he may have more respect for Cristiano.”Messi does things that other players can’t do,” said Carragher when asked by Guillem Balague to choose between the two on the ‘Pure Football Podcast’.
“Messi, I’ve never changed that. I think I’m with the majority on that.”While he sees the Barcelona man as the better player, Carragher clearly also has a lot of admiration for the Portuguese forward.”I think I have possibly more respect for Ronaldo, and the reason I say that is because he has got unbelievable talent but his mentality, his focus, his work rate has made him what he is, or get him to where he is… [it] has taken him to another level,” said Carragher.
“What I would say is [that] Ronaldo does things that other players can do but he does them more often
